This is a "libertarian" scam. If education were for sale, we would have millions of American children who get zero education because their families cannot afford to PAY for school, even if some taxes were rolled back, and/or their parents don't care about school.

When I think about this, I have visions of India with millions of "untouchableesque" children scampering about our streets.

In this country the rich can afford exclusive private schools where they can get an excellent education. The rest of us are thankful we have a public school system that serves millions of American children well, particularly those who attend school regularly, pay attention in class and who study. When their parents back this up, these students can achieve, they can get a college education and they can succeed. If we charge for schools, then we will assuredly get a wildly differing versions of education and very likely will create a situation that will increase the likelihood that the "haves" will have more and the "have nots" will lose.

A former libertarian, I no longer believe in this fiction. We would see, not unacceptable outcomes for many, we would see no outcome for many.
