Tracing the Evolution of digital pedagogy.

The story of the e-Learning & Innovative Pedagogies Research Network parallels the rise of digital learning itself. What began as a forum for discussing online education has become a global movement redefining the ways people teach, learn, and connect.

Overview

Founded in 2009 in Chicago, USA, the Network has since convened in cities across the world, including Melbourne, Los Angeles, Madrid, Copenhagen, Auckland, Kingston, Rhodes, La Trobe University (Melbourne), University of Malta, Polytechnic University of Valencia, National Changhua University of Education, and University of the Aegean.

Over the years, the Network has hosted influential figures in digital learning—among them Sugata Mitra, Mimi Ito, George Siemens, and Gilly Salmon—each contributing to our understanding of how technology enables new modes of knowledge creation and community.

Today, the Network continues to expand its reach, supporting educators and researchers as they build equitable, creative, and adaptive learning environments for a connected world.

Network Chairs

The Network is chaired by Professor Mary Kalantzis, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Professor Bill Cope, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, whose pioneering work in multiliteracies, learning design, and digital pedagogy has defined the field for over two decades.
